Love notes from some audience members…

“Antuan presented in a way that made you feel connected and hopeful.”

“Antuan’s story was one of triumph, which I think is a great way to kick off a day’s long conference on such a troubling topic.”

“So very honest, so moving and very insightful. A very exceptional man.”

He’s a Broadway star, at the top of his craft. And he has turned his experience into a message of redemption, a story of overcoming.

We bring in some of the best speakers from across the country for a very big conference—and one of our great keynote speakers has been Antuan. He was incredible.

Nobody I know does it like Antuan.

As an event planner, I’d say if you’re looking for an inspirational speaker, he’s your guy.”

“When an artist decides and makes a choice to live into their fuller selves, and to go beyond the me-me-me of being on stage…that’s rare. And that’s what Magic is doing.

There’s just such a sincerity to how he chooses to live his life. And that kind of choice requires everyone to rise up.”

“I said, ‘People will want to meet you,’ and he said, ‘Happy to.’

The line of people queued up to meet him snaked across the entire ballroom, and he stayed until every last person had had that opportunity.

Not everybody at his level will deign to be with audience members like that—but he was all about the people. He was really committed.”

“You could have heard a pin drop in this room. Amazing man!”

“We asked him to speak at one of our all-conference attendee sessions—it was very, very well received.

We had so much demand, we had to do a simulcast in another room to accommodate everyone.

People all wanted to be in the same room with him.

Next time, we realized, we’ll have to give him the whole ballroom.”

— Blake Kush, Director of Training and Outreach, NY State Office of Victim Service

“He’s a very conscious human being, someone with deep integrity who means and does what he says.

He leaves an audience member thinking,

It’s possible for me to forget.

It’s possible for me to be bigger.

It’s possible for me to make a difference.

He’s a special, special man.”

“Years ago, when we were both cast in the same show, he was already exuding the standards and ethics that I now try to instill in my performers. He definitely led by example. And those performing with him instinctively elevated their performance to match his.”

 — Brian Cross, Manager of Live Entertainment, Worlds of Fun

“When it comes to selecting a speaker, I look for someone who is engaging and has a compelling story. And who can reach our diverse student body.

Antuan was all of that and more.”

— Claire Kaplan, Program Director for Gender Violence and Social Change Program and Men’s Leadership Project, University of Virginia for the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women's Center

“For a good story, you need the truth. He does a good job of not sugarcoating. And yet he has this stage presence and persona that emits joy and a glass-half-full outlook. You can’t beat that.

The positivity just beams from him.

“Here’s what people need to know about Magic as a speaker: He will show up on time. He will not go over time. He’s easy to work with, is a pleasure to be around, and has the best laugh ever.

And most importantly, he will serve the audience.”

— Tricia Brouk, Executive Producer, Speakers Who Dare, former Executive Producer of TEDxLincolnSquare in New York City, host of The Big Talk podcast

“He’s experienced the coastal lifestyle, he’s done the big audition circuit—it makes sense for someone who’s had that experience to lead a conversation about how to get over audition anxiety. I’d trust him to have that conversation with anybody.”

— Brian Cross, Manager of Live Entertainment, Worlds of Fun

“I’ve worked with a lot of different speakers, and Antuan is one of the warmest, nicest people ever. He’s at the top of his craft, and for someone with his schedule, in the sphere he’s in…? In my world, we call it a mensch.”

— Joe Storch, Associate Counsel, Office of General Counsel at the State University of NY (SUNY)

“People need to hear his story—that it gets better for male survivors, and survivors in general. People need to hear they’re not the only ones who deal with things.

He’s very honest about his struggles—it’s good to hear about how positive his life turned out.”

— Claire Kaplan, Program Director for Gender Violence and Social Change Program and Men’s Leadership Project, University of Virginia for the Maxine Platzer Lynn Women's Center

“Thank you for coming to speak with us at the SPECTRUM conference. I was too shy to approach you probably because I have a hard time admitting to myself as a black queer woman that I had been assaulted as well by another woman. She was my gf at the time, and I didn’t even know another woman could assault me.

Just like you, I’ve struggled with vulnerability when dating. My new gf has been patient with me. I was struck by what you said about control. I kept thinking wow another person knows what it’s like. I would use manipulation to try and twist what part of me she got. But your talk made me realize I need to let her love me. Truly and honestly love me for who I am, and that I’m worthy of love.

Thank you for speaking today. I feel so inspired by what you said. I’m going to seek help in NJ. I hope to see you again and hear your stories. Maybe I’ll win the Hamilton lottery finally!”
